Giving the gift of boudoir is a very intimate act. You’re sharing not only images of your body with someone, but also sharing the gift of vulnerability. What better way to cap off the honeymoon period than with such a gift! Andrea of Andrea Rufener Photography helped her client put together the most beautiful session for her new husband. They were kind enough to share it with us along with some insight into giving the gift of boudoir.
Having married just about a year ago, Melanie wanted to surprise the love of her life, her husband, with some beautiful images of her. Together, we spent a rainy, cold afternoon creating art with nothing but beautiful light, white sheets and some tulle. The images show who Melanie really is: a warm hearted, life loving, beautiful young woman with a smile that will light up even the darkest of rooms.
I had not met Melanie before, so we were both a bit nervous to start with. This was one of my very first boudoir sessions, and both of us didn't really know what to expect. My favorite moment was when I could really tell that Melanie let down her guard and trusted me completely.
I have been looking at beautiful, sensual boudoir images for a long time, and when I saw the amazing pictures Andrea takes, I thought: “Wow, I would love to have pretty images like this of myself.” Andrea has the gift and talent to show the best and most beautiful side of people with her photographs. I especially like how her pictures leave a lot up to your imagination.
Before the photoshoot, I was nervous. Will the pictures of me really look pretty? Did I bring the right outfits? Can I really do this? But after a coffee and a nice talk with Andrea, I just knew we were going to be a great match. I felt absolutely comfortable and at ease during the photo shoot.
My first favorite moment of the shoot was when Andrea showed me a picture on the back of her camera. “Wow, is that really me? That looks so beautiful!” is what first came to my mind. My second favorite moment was when I noticed how happy and excited Andrea was with the result. Just like myself.
From this experience, I have learned to feel comfortable in my skin and to be more happy with who I am.
It’s such a great experience, because we are all of course beautiful in our own way. And why not have a photographer show you just that? You will end up with beautiful, beautiful images, which you can either keep for yourself or give as a gift to your partner. You don’t need to be a size 0 for this or have the perfect type of body index. Just be yourself.
