Photography by Elli Jane Photography
This industrial inspired boudoir session fulfills all of our grungy dreams. Elli Jane Photography created a tip top experience for Brandi, the beautiful lady pictured, and capitalized on a gem of an AirBNB to bring their vision to life. Elli had a few things to say about the process leading up to and after this lovely session.
When Brandi contacted me about doing a boudoir session I was really honored because she is an amazing photographer and specializes in boudoir. She found this incredible AirBNB location in Knoxville, TN. Neither one of us saw the location in person until the day of the session. As soon as we stepped into that studio apartment our jaws dropped because it was everything we could have dreamed of and more. It had large windows allowing natural light to pour in from every angle and the walls were painted in various strokes and colors creating a very artistic feel. If I’m completely honest the location was a piece of art, which went perfectly with what I wanted to portray in the photographs. When we began planning her styled session I just kept thinking I want these images to be artwork and reflect the artist she is. I want these images to help her see herself in a different light than she ever has before. This was an opportunity for her to see her assets and not her flaws. As women we have this knack for instantly seeing the negative parts of our bodies. We see our stretch marks, our cellulite that never seems to go away no matter how much weight we lose or weights we lift, our wrinkles that continue to keep getting deeper the more we laugh and cry, and the many other flaws we create in our minds. Those weigh heavily on our thoughts day in and day out. I don't want women to notice those even if it's just for a couple minutes as they look over their photographs. I want it to be an escape and relief from their minds and a moment where they think, "Gosh, that's really me? I look amazing! I look like a piece of art."
The lovely Brandi told us about her experience with Elli, and how it made her see what it is like to be in front of the camera as opposed to being the photographer herself.
Every woman deserves to be a super model for a day. You don't need me or anyone else to tell you how beautiful you are, you need to see it for yourself. You are never too fat or skinny, too pale or old, or too anything to feel beautiful. Be daring and today and everyday love yourself first and foremost. The moment you look in the mirror and don't like what you see, go out and put on whatever makes you feel sexy and do a session
I did this session to experience what its like to be the client instead of the photographer. I pose these beautiful girls all the time and could never imagine how they could be so nervous or insecure when I see how beautiful they look in their photos. Little did I know it's really easy to feel that way, no matter how confident you think you are. I learned that doing something like this really does take courage and vulnerability, but all of it is worth it the moment you see your photos.
