I had the pleasure of being present with these two and their love is completely intoxicating. You can't help but smile and feel happy being around them. They have such a genuine and carefree spirit and Melanie Gabrielle captured them perfectly. Kasey and Cameron effortlessly made our vision come to life. Quiet mornings together spent making pancakes and embracing just a little longer in bed is their idea of a perfect Sunday. And that's an A+ in our book.
When I think of my favorite things to do with my husband Christian, making something delicious together is at the top of my list. Sneaking hugs and kisses as we pass seasoning around, seeing each other light up as we recreate our favorite recipes, and excitedly sitting at the table to taste what we've created together is like a little piece of heaven for me. This is the heart of this session. We want to inspire you to celebrate those everyday moments with the one you love.
We asked Kasey and Cameron to share their experience with you, and I hope it inspires your own fine art couple's boudoir.
Tell us a little bit of your story... Our love story confirms our belief in fate and what’s meant to be will be. We are from the same small town in Northern Michigan (the tip-of-the-mitt), and when we say small, there was one streetlight and no commercial chains. We hadn't seen each other in almost 15 years when we virtually reconnected in South Florida. We are both so incredibly thankful to technology for giving us the opportunity to meet each other once again and to fall in love. Our romance has been a whirlwind, as we haven't wanted to leave each other’s side since finding each other again, it’s been truly, madly, deeply since first reconnecting. We love doing everything together; traveling, exploring new eateries, going to the movies, exploring Miami, going to concerts, cooking, etc…
What was your favorite moment from the shoot? We love making breakfast together on Sundays. It’s funny because we both joke that Sunday was our least favorite day of the week until we got together. Now we look forward to sleeping in and making banana pancakes or breakfast burritos every Sunday, it’s a toss-up of what we cook more. We loved reenacting our mornings together in the kitchen making coffee, pancakes and mimosas. It’s something that we really treasure having the time to do together and it meant a lot to have it captured so beautifully.
What inspired you to look into a boudoir session? A boudoir session, like an engagement session is something that we both very much looked forward to doing. We are certainly not shy about sharing our love for one another but we realized that we don’t take or have many great pictures of the two of us, so it’s really special to have our love captured by a true professional. Having pictures taken by an artist of moments in our youth that will forever be cherished is a gift. We both look forward to looking at these pictures, as we grow old together.
Was it difficult to act naturally in front of a photographer in such an intimate setting? What helped make you at ease? At first, like anything, it’s not easy to act like a professional and you've done it before if you haven't… so yes, it was a little difficult at first. The chemistry with your photographer certainly helps to make a boudoir shoot a little more comfortable, but you two also have to help each other. We whispered sweet nothings to each other and kissed like the camera wasn't there. Focusing more on each other than the fact that we were in the middle of a photo shoot definitely helped for us.
Do you find you are more in-tune as a couple, after experiencing a boudoir together? We both were so excited to see the pictures and know that the excitement and anticipation will forever be remembered. We do feel that being able to look at these pictures together will always bring us closer as a couple. We feel fortunate to have our love captured in such a beautiful and timeless way.
Did you discover anything new about each other from experiencing a boudoir together? We're not sure if we discovered something new about each other but in some way we feel that the boudoir session has depended our love for one another as we look back on the experience and treasure the images. It’s very intimate to have these feelings and emotions for one another captured and internalized through film.
What would you each say to encourage other couples to do a boudoir session? We highly encourage couples to get out of their comfort zones and to do a boudoir session. Let’s be honest, love and youth is beautiful and it’s a moment in time that will pass, to have this time in a couple’s life captured will forever be cherished as a snapshot to that time in the couple’s lives. We feel blessed to have these images and are thankful to the artist that took them for us.
Thank you to the amazing artists that shared their incredible talents to make this vision come to life. We couldn't have done it without you.
