For this shoot I was inspired by the idea of a secret bedroom in the forest! Why keep boudoir in the bedroom when you can move the bedroom outdoors?! I have an antique army cot in my studio that started the inspiration and is the center of our outdoor "bedroom". We carried it up a very high hill to the perfect spot on top - the light hit everything perfectly! We also included an old window and mirror into our "bedroom". The trees in this area are amazing and the tallest I've ever seen! When the light comes through it's really breathtaking.
The wardrobe is from Free People. They are one of our go-tos when it comes to dressing a boudoir client. Each item has feminine details and beautiful colors. The first dress had a detailed row of buttons all down the front and we loved how the metallic threads shimmered in the sun. Under the dress was a slip that we also used alone in some shots. When deciding on a dress we wanted to show the elegance of Boudoir without only showing a lingerie look. It's always important to dress in a way that makes you feel beautiful and comfortable - that may be lingerie or a dress or even a sweater. Do what works for you!
The second dress had all the tones of a New England autumn so we had to use it! The leaves are all turning and the golden browns of the pine needles on the ground complemented the design in the dress. It was short and playful - perfect for some outdoor boudoir.
The whimsical nature of these images by Katherine Henry Boudoir is very inspiring. It is a nudge to those of you considering an outdoor session to take the plunge, find some abandoned woods, and explore with your heart and your creativity.
