From photographer Alyssa Dueck, Linen and Lace Boudoir
On her approach to boudoir...
I am a very strong believer of less is more and love to embrace the small details that are unique to each of the women I have the privilege of working with. My goal is to focus on individual beauty while using natural and organic elements to bring it all together. Whether it be the curve of a neckline, the freckles on your cheek, those long eyelashes, a hand as you sweep the hair from your face, or the way your fingers gently touch your lips.
To women considering a boudoir...
Go ahead. Celebrate yourself. I realize this is often easier said than done, but please remember that there is no wrong time to celebrate and feel good about the body you have been gifted with. Whether you feel sexiest in black lace lingerie or in a cozy knitted sweater, jump in and trust that your photographer will guide you through the experience. We are all beautiful and deserve to exist and be captured within photographs!
We also asked Rebekah to share her thoughts on the experience.
"The session definitely changed the way I see my own beauty. During the session, I instantly forgot about being self-conscious and just became confident in that I am beautiful. Once I saw the images, I was surprised that rather than being critical of myself, I saw my beauty shine through the images. It personally reinstated the fact that although I may not always look “perfect” in the way that our society and media tell me I should look, I have a unique beauty that is worth showing off and being confident about.
The boudoir session was so fun! I instantly felt comfortable. I felt empowered and confident throughout the entire session. The guidance in choosing different poses was so helpful since I was unsure of how to pose myself. The compliments and pointers from the photographer made me forget all of my previous concerns. I loved being photographed and didn’t want the session to end."
Would you recommend this experience to another woman?
"I would highly recommend this experience to another woman. I believe it is important to do certain things that may be out of our comfort zone in order to learn more about ourselves and what we have to offer the world. The experience boosted my confidence and reminded me that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes."
