I’m delighted to introduce you to Jeanie Micheel (it’s French, so use your best accent). Jeanie is a talented fine art boudoir photographer in Germany and she is joining Boudoir Collective as Creative Curator & Writer.
In this role, Jeanie will source breathtaking images to accompany uplifting stories. She will also write a column every Wednesday on a variety of boudoir related topics that closely align with our mission.
Welcome, Jeanie Micheel!
Q: How did you get started? A: It all started on a cozy night in, somewhere in France, when I spent some time online discovering the wonderful art of wedding photography by Jasmine Star. Her story inspired me and that night, in Winter 2009, I decided to be a wedding photographer even though I had no experience in that business. I started out as a wedding photographer in Germany but over time I found my passion for portraiture work. I soon specialized in women’s photography. In 2013, I realized my love for fine art film photography and in January 2014, I took a chance and shot my very first test roll and have never looked back. With that, my brand for fine art woman's photography was born. While I truly love photographing women’s portraiture, I have a deep passion for boudoir photography, especially when shot on film.
Q: Where did you grow up? A: I was born in Berlin, Germany but grew up in the suburbs. Soon after school, I traveled to the States, where I lived in Seattle and Bainbridge Island, WA for a year. I returned to Germany and studied British and American Studies, with some time abroad in Poitiers, France in 2009 and Java, Indonesia in 2011. Currently I live in Chemnitz, Germany and love to travel through Europe for my work.
Q: Your mission at Boudoir Collective: A: Sharing my passion for fine art boudoir photography and inspiring women all over the world to feel beautiful and confident while remaining true to themselves.
Q: Boudoir to you: A: The art of showing women how truly beautiful they are, from the inside and out.
Q: You would be surprised to know: A: That I have a weakness for TV shows such as Game of Thrones and Outlander.
Q: Things that inspire your heart: A: Reading quotes, sunshine on my face while waking up in the morning, kitty snuggles, taking a walk through the woods, traveling the world, discovering new cultures and discovering a part of me in that new culture.
Q: Jeanie Micheel’s favorite things: A: Reading novels, rainy nights, the moon, coffee and beautiful lingerie.
Q: On a lazy Sunday we can find you: A: Cuddled up in my bed, which is pretty much just a mattress on my hardwood floor, with a good book, Pinterest on my iPad and some pizza
Thank you, Jeanie! We are so excited to have you!
