There is a similarity between the strong beauty of the valley and the woman standing in the water that flows through the middle of it. If you’re lucky enough to have a friend you’ve known your whole life, you’ll understand the connection between the bedrock of the valley and the support of a true friend. Ashley of Ashley Alexandra Photography chose the Peace River Valley as a backdrop for her friend Caitlyn’s boudoir session, sharing:
I have known the beautiful woman in these images for close to twenty years. She is not only one of my favourite people to photograph, but she's also my very best friend of whom I've had the pleasure of growing up alongside, laughing together endlessly, and traveling the world with. Caitlyn has a warmth about her that she genuinely shares with all those who meet her and you can't help but be entranced by her kind heart and sweet gypsy soul.
This session took place at Alwin Holland park in the Peace River Valley. I always love to bring my out of town friends and family down to the valley to explore the endless rolling grassy hills, the massive cliff faces and breathtaking rock formations. During our session there happened to be a huge forest fire blazing down hundreds of acres of wild rugged land several hundred kilometers away. The smoke that traveled through the valley created a beautiful warm haze that enveloped the sky and turned the river to honey.
This session was strongly inspired by the earth and the unique elemental strength that all women possess. Capturing the outer beauty is easy, I wanted my friend's personality and innate strength to shine through in a natural and original way. For me, the most important thing when it comes to boudoir is capturing each woman's unique essence and character.
Thank you to Ashley and Caitlin for sharing this beautiful example of friendship with us. We love the metaphor of friendship as nature -- affected by water, smoke and whatever else life throws our way, but unchanged at the foundation. May this story encourage you to reach out to an old friend and be reminded of the power of friendship.
