I think as women, we all experience insecurities time to time, - especially regarding our bodies. Often my boudoir clients are hesitant to get in front of the camera. With the added pressures coming from social media and celebrities, sometimes...[continued]Read More
Sometimes life doesn't go as planned, especially when it involves scheduling a maternity boudoir with a very pregnant woman! Emily of Emily Jane Photography had to think fast on her feet when her client Maralina was suddenly put on bed rest just before their planned maternity boudoir session. But you’d never know from looking at these gorgeous images that they were part of a backup plan -- instead they show the beauty of pregnancy and the vibrancy of this growing family. Emily and Maralina were both kind enough to share their thoughts on the session with us.
When I walked it I was immediately excited about all of the natural light that lit her beautiful home. Instead of having her pose in all different places in her home I opted for just a simple white bed with a nearby window illuminating the room. We had her little girl snuggle with her momma for a little bit of the session then we focused on Marialina and her gorgeous belly!
The word of the day was glowing. Marialina was glowing with beauty. The room was glowing in glorious light. And her little one was glowing with excitement. I knew when Marialina was standing by the window looking down at her growing belly that it was "THE SHOT". Everything was perfect and the stars aligned. The second most memorable moment was when her daughter was with her. Kids are so much fun. They are so full of joy and so pure. But it's even more special when a big sister is kissing her mama’s belly to give her little brother a kiss.
Initially I had no intentions on doing a boudoir session. The thought of a boudoir photoshoot while pregnant wasn't appealing to me. When I came across Emily Jane's website and viewed her portfolio, I changed my mind. She has a way of making everyone look beautiful in their photos. I just wanted to be able to look back at my photos and remember what a special time that pregnancy was.
When Emily arrived to my home, I wasn't ready at all; my makeup wasn't done, my daughters hair wasn't finished, our room wasn't made up. All I kept thinking was how horrible I was going to look because I had gained so much weight. Emily came in and said, "Don't worry about it". She proceeded to make up my bed while I got myself and my daughter ready. She constantly complimented me and reassured me that I was beautiful. She was my day maker.
I learned from this session that it's ok for others to help me. I don't always have to have it together. Everything doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful. So what if you didn't lose those extra 5 lbs or that your breasts aren't perfect. Beauty shines from the inside out.

All she’s been thinking about for months is the new baby coming and adjusting to life with two children. It is exciting and all-consuming at the same time. This boudoir session is a chance to take a minute for herself, both to document her body during this time and to have a few quiet hours in these last few weeks before the baby.
She walks into the studio and is immediately at ease, relaxing into the quiet of the simple white room. She runs a hand along the soft bed, imagining taking a long nap. Instead, she sits down on the edge and takes a few deep breaths. She puts thoughts of her regular life out of her head and focuses on the beautiful ways her body has changed in the last eight months.
Tanya Menoni of Tenth & Grace sent us this delicate and romantic maternity boudoir, sharing her vision for the session and her belief in the power of a maternity boudoir.
Boudoir photography is such a unique art form for celebrating the beauty of femininity. For pregnant women in particular, it can be very hard to feel beautiful and confident during the last few weeks of pregnancy. Having photos that capture that special time can help women see how beautiful they truly are. It is a time that should be celebrated!
Thank you to Tanya for this session. It left us in awe at the power of a woman’s body and it’s ability to transform for every different stage of life. We hope you will celebrate the beauty of pregnancy along with us through these images!

Maternity boudoir sessions are always beautiful, but this session by Tianna of Yours Truly Portraiture stood out to us as something extra special. Of course, the images are lovely. But once you read Sara’s story, you’ll see why we fell in love with her session immediately.
Our bodies are ALWAYS changing. Whether it be the freshmen fifteen or pregnancy. I was so honored to be able to capture this beautiful time for Sara. I honestly believe women are at their most attractive when they are carrying life!
Sara is a girl not unfamiliar with insecurities (are any of us?). When we were chatting about her newborn session I asked about how she was feeling and immediately suggested that she do a maternity boudoir session. Having dealt with being overweight when she was younger she was feeling really down having put on that NECESSARY weight with expecting her first child. I was so excited at the opportunity to show Sara how beautiful she was. Despite being so nervous and rattling off a list of things she was insecure about, Sara LOVES these photos. I would be lying if I said she still didn't deal with that pang of insecurity when she looks in the mirror her body not the size it once was but she has thanked me from the moon and back about how this experience and her collection of photos has changed her view of her pregnant form. What is more beautiful in a woman than the ability to make more beauty?
Thank you Tianna for your kind, encouraging words. We hope that they touch every reader, reminding us all of our inherent beauty. We also want to thank Sara for sharing her story with us. We hope you find joy in these images for many years to come.
